All That Jazz

Last weekend I had a studio shoot with a Jazz Musician. It was fun working with him, not only did I get to take some pictures but I got to listen to him play as well. Nikolai Panov plays in a local Jazz club here in Atlanta. You can visit his website if your interested http://moonlightersatlanta.com/
I have been to one of his sessions at the Red Light Cafe and I really enjoyed it.

Here is some photos of a 1949 Cherry Red Chevrolet Pickup. I pass this regularly as the owner uses it as part of his insurance business. I have waited for the right time to shoot as it is a parking lot and there are usually other cars around. However on Sunday night, while coming back from shooting some landscapes I notice the pickup parked in front of the office and no other cars in the area. So I decided that this was the right time for me to shoot. Although I was tired from a long day of travelling and shooting, I had to take this opportunity. (the pickup is usually parked across the lot and not the best place for shooting). I did several shots/compositions and these were the final results. I did share them with the owner today and he is ecstatic with the shots.

Route 66

... As we continued our trip West we had to stop in Adrian, TX as it is considered the Halfway Point on Route 66. Our interest was the Phillips 66 gas station as we had visited this place a few years ago and did take pictures. We wanted to refresh our gallery with newer pictures and those of HDR. As we got to the station I was a bit dissapointed as there was a big truck along with a trailer parked right in front of the Gas station blocking the view of the building. I decided that I would take the picture anyway since we were there. As I was getting my camera settings ready on top of my tripod a gentleman drove up in a blue pickup. He was very friendly and asked what we were doing. I told him I wanted to take pictures of the station, he stated "Well how are you going to do that with this truck in the way, do you want me to move it". I was shocked and said, yes that would be nice. He introduced himself as Roy Kiewert, the owner of the Phillips 66 station. He started to tell us his story about how the Gas Station came to be and how he became the owner. He then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to come inside and take some pictures! How could I resist! I was going to get a personal tour of the famous Route 66 Gas Station! While he continued to tell his story I was finding places to take pictures. He was just as excited to see us as we were of taking pictures of this place. We wanted to spend about 15 minutes here but ended up spending about 1.5 hours. We felt like kids in a new play house, however the play house being history! We enjoyed every second of it, along with Roy's hospitality! Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Saint Francis Cathedral

This picture is of the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. but is well known as Saint Francis Cathedral.
This church was built in the late 1880s. The Cathedral is in Downtown Santa Fe and is set beautifully in the surrounding area by adobe buildings.
The church is very well maintained and very beautiful inside. I was able to spend several hours taking photos (No flash allowed). You can read more about this church here http://www.cbsfa.org

The picture was taken along route 66 during our trip to New Mexico. The car looks like it has been there some time and has had multiple people taken their shot at painting something on the car. Creating art, by many motorists passing by. Sure someone could start putting big X's or the hearts and names etc.. but no, it looks like people took their turns in this car in the desert.
